10 Things Your Home Inspector Might Not Check For
1) Test the water pressure in every faucet, especially upstairs during peak hours. You'll be glad you did when you take your first shower in your new home.
2) Open every window — twice. Painted-shut windows are sneaky (and expensive) surprises.
3) Check cell service in every room (especially the room you plan to use as a home office).
4) Look for main-floor laundry hookups. Carrying baskets up and down stairs loses its novelty fast.
5) Count outlets in every room, especially the kitchen. Extension cords are not a design trend.
6) Test the garage door opener — and see if two cars actually fit with doors open.
7) Walk the property line. Know where your yard ends and your neighbor's begins.
8) Check the morning sun situation. East-facing bedrooms hit hard if you’re a night owl.
9) Look up. Not just for stains, but for low-hanging fixtures that tall people will hate.
10) Test every lock and deadbolt. You’d be surprised how many don’t work.
